Andy Murray is reportedly set to continue his partnership with Novak Djokovic, despite British star Emma Raducanu still seeking a new coach.

Djokovic stunned the tennis world in November when he announced that his former Big Four rival Murray was set to join his coaching team for the Australian Open, in a move which delighted many fans across the world.

British icon Murray helped the Serbian reach the semi-finals before Djokovic was forced to retire with injury, and the duo decided after the tournament that they’d have a ‘cool off’ period before making future plans.

There has now been an update on the future of their partnership, with The Times reporting on Monday that Murray is set to remain on Djokovic’s team ‘as the season proceeds towards the French Open and Wimbledon’.

Indian Wells, which takes place in California next month, ‘is considered the likely next meeting point’ for Djokovic and Murray, with the former set to make his return from injury at the Qatar Open in Doha next week.

Tennis fans have been reacting on social media, with @xhaka_khan2 posting on X that ‘Raducanu could have done with Andy’s help, if she hadn’t let him down at Wimbledon’ at last year’s Championships.

Raducanu, who became the first Brit since Murray to taste major glory at the 2021 US Open, is currently enduring the worst losing run of her career.

She has been without a full-time coach since her exit from the Australian Open, with Nick Cavaday stepping away from the role over health reasons.

Plenty of British tennis fans were hoping that Murray would team up with Raducanu but that appears to be off the cards at this moment in time.

Raducanu and Murray had a fall-out at Wimbledon last year, after she decided to pull out of their mixed doubles partnership.

Raducanu was enjoying a run in the women’s singles and snubbed the mixed doubles after hurting her wrist, denying Murray any more matches at the Grand Slam event on his final appearance there before retirement.

Speaking at the Australian Open this year, Raducanu revealed that she had apologised to Murray and claimed that the pair were ‘fine now’.

‘I sent him a long message, basically: ‘If I caused any trouble I guess at Wimbledon, that’s definitely the last thing I want,” Raducanu said.

‘He’s someone that I’ve grown up looking up to and I don’t want any bad blood or harsh feelings with him.

‘I sent [Murray] a long message and he took it really well and responded saying he was disappointed but he understood. We’re fine now. We walk past each other and say ‘hello’, ‘well done’.

‘I really wanted to [smooth things over with him]. Whether or not I can go back and turn back time and do things differently, that’s in the past.

‘All I can do is kind of evaluate that and learn going forwards. And I wanted to take the initiative, because growing up, he was one of my idols.

‘And he still is, with everything he’s achieved in the game, coming from the UK and the same system and everything.

‘He’s someone I respect a lot, and I just didn’t want any negative tension in the air, more than anything, because I’m going to see him around. I just didn’t want that.

‘It didn’t feel right, so I texted him and he replied, and it was like a really nice message. So I’m glad I did that and I just hope he doesn’t hate me too much.’
