Curtis Jones is available for Liverpool’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Wednesday night after serving a one-match suspension.

Jones, who was slapped with a red card in the 2-2 Merseyside derby draw against Everton last week, is likely to be named in Liverpool’s line-up at Villa Park after missing the 2-1 victory over Wolves on Sunday.

The Reds are aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table in the clash against Unai Emery’s side, which is live on TNT Sports 2.

Liverpool are currently seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the top-flight title race, with both sides having played 25 matches to date.

In other teams news, Liverpool will again be without injured duo Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez against ninth-placed Aston Villa.

Gakpo picked up a knock against Everton – with the Dutchman set to be replaced in Liverpool’s XI by Diogo Jota or Darwin Nunez – while Gomez suffered a hamstring injury in the recent 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Plymouth.

‘Joe will take quite some time,’ Liverpool head coach Arne Slot said about Gomez. ‘He is going to be out for a number of weeks because of a hamstring injury.

‘It’s a big blow for Joe and for us. He tries to do everything to be with the team.

‘He works really hard to come back and then the first game when he came back after two or three minutes we saw him making a sprint and now he is out for weeks again.’
