Christian Eriksen has predicted that Patrick Dorgu will ‘do really well’ at Manchester United after joining the club in the January transfer window.

United recently signed the Denmark international from Italian club Lecce in a £29m deal, with the wing-back having played three games to date ahead of tonight’s top-flight clash against Ipswich Town at 7.30pm UK time.

Dorgu made his debut in United’s 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round win over Leicester City earlier this month, featuring for a total of 45 minutes.

The 20-year-old then played the full 90 minutes in Premier League matches against Tottenham and Everton, which ended in a 1-0 loss and 2-2 draw.

Eriksen is expecting big things from his fellow Dane once Dorgu is fully settled at Old Trafford under head coach Ruben Amorim.

‘I think you’ve seen already what he can bring,’ Eriksen told United’s official website. ‘He’s an athletic full-back and a good player on the ball that likes to go forward.

‘And yeah, he’s a very nice guy. There’s not many Danish guys who aren’t nice guys! I think he fits in well.

‘He has to get used to everything in the Prem and at this club, but he’s in good hands and I think he’ll do really well.’

Dorgu has impressed across his opening two Premier League games for United, winning 72 per cent of his duels and making six tackles.

Naturally more of an attacking player, Dorgu looks set play a pivotal role in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation going forward.

Dorgu, who has been compared to Manchester City star Jeremy Doku, has been warned that he will have to deal with ‘completely different pressure and expectations’ at United by Denmark head coach Brian Riemer.

United legend Peter Schmeichel has also said that there is ‘a lot of pressure’ on Dorgu to hit the ground running at the club.

Meanwhile, Dorgu has already told United supporters what they can expect from him.

‘I think I’m going to bring a lot of intensity and physique on the pitch,’ the Danish star said earlier this month. ‘And a lot of energy and [running].’

Dorgu has also talked up his mindset, adding: ‘For me, it’s the most important thing because there’s a lot of talk about and around football. And you really need to be strong outside of football as well.

‘And, when I’ve been in Italy, I’ve lived alone. Of course, my family is visiting me a lot, but you need to be really good mentally to stay focused and being concentrated on football.’
