Erling Haaland was left out of Manchester City’s matchday squad for their FA Cup tie against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to bounce back following their 5-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal last Sunday, but they will face their League One opponents in the FA Cup fourth round without their leading striker on the bench.

Guardiola has made eight changes from the side beaten at Arsenal, with Stefan Ortega Moreno, Savinho and Omar Marmoush the only players to keep their place in the team.

Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, John Stones and Bernardo Silva have all been named on the substitutes’ bench, but Haaland did not travel with the squad with City confirming that the striker has been given a rest day.

‘Every football game is always an opportunity, it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose,’ Guardiola said before kick off.

‘We have played many times against teams in lower divisions and always, especially away, they are difficult. We react really well and play well and we will try and do it.’
