Liverpool restored their seven-point lead in the Premier League title race with a hard-fought win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Just days after their dramatic Merseyside derby draw, Arne Slot’s side were able to hold onto the three points despite Wolves mounting a late onslaught.

Luis Diaz gave the Reds an early lead, bundling in from close-range before winning a penalty just before the break. Mohamed Salah dispatched the spot-kick but Liverpool were outplayed in the second-half, failing to register a single shot.

Matheus Cunha’s wonder goal in the 67th minute made things very uncomfortable for the Anfield home crowd, though the visitors struggled to create meaningful chances.

A crucial Jarrell Quansah interception prevented Marshall Munetsi from scoring a very late equaliser, with Liverpool digging deep to go back to seven points clear of Arsenal following their win at Leicester on Saturday.
