Erling Haaland appears to aim dig at Myles Lewis-Skelly after Arsenal red card

Erling Haaland’s beef with Myles Lewis-Skelly appears to still be rumbling on with the Manchester City star taking a moment to enjoy the defender’s red card against West Ham.

Lewis-Skelly came off the bench at home to the Hammers on Saturday afternoon but was shown a red card after 73 minutes for his challenge on Mohammed Kudus. Arsenal fell to a 1-0 defeat against Graham Potter’s side.

The teenager was initially booked after bringing down the West Ham midfielder just over the halfway line with his yellow upgraded to a red after a VAR review.

Haaland and Lewis-Skelly have seemingly been at odds since early on in the season when the striker screamed ‘who the f**k are you’ in the teenager’s direction during the 2-2 draw between City and Arsenal in September.

Lewis-Skelly got some payback after his wonderful strike against City at the Emirates earlier this month, mimicking the Norway international’s meditation celebration as the Gunners thrashed their rivals 5-1 in north London.

Haaland appears to have taken another dig at the youngster in the wake of Saturday’s sending off.

West Ham fans were pictured outside the Emirates pulling off Haaland’s celebration in what appeared to be an attempt to mock Lewis-Skelly after his sending off.

Haaland lapped it up on social media, liking the post.

Saturday’s defeat served as a major blow to Arsenal’s title hopes, missing the chance to close the gap on Liverpool after the Reds dropped points midweek.

While Mikel Arteta was unhappy with the decision that saw his side reduced to 10 men, Premier League legend Alan Shearer was convinced the right decision had been made.

‘It was the right call, yeah,’ Shearer said on Match of the Day.

‘It was a call that VAR got right, referee didn’t give it, which okay, you can sort of understand but that sort of typified Arsenal today, getting caught on the ball.

‘But [William] Saliba’s not getting there, have a look at where [David] Raya is, the goalkeeper, so if Mohammed Kudus wins that ball and goes forward, which he will do, he can have a free shot at goal.

‘So, correct, the referee gets sent to the screen and eventually, they got to the right decision. It was without a doubt a red card.’
