Daniel Riggs, the grandson of tennis legend Bobby Riggs, has reportedly been arrested on child pornography charges by armed FBI agents.

He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female player who he’d been coaching, according to federal court records.

The 31-year-old American now faces charges of enticement of a minor and production of child pornography, the Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

Riggs’ grandfather Bobby, who died in 1995 at the age of 77, is widely known for his ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match against Billie Jean King in 1973.

Bobby Riggs also won three Grand Slam singles titles – two of which came at the US Open – while he clinched the Wimbledon trophy in 1939.

His grandson Daniel Riggs was arrested by several armed FBI agents in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday at the Lauderdale Tennis Club.

It is alleged that Riggs engaged in sexual conversations with a female minor on Snapchat, according to a federal complaint filed in September.

The complaint accuses Riggs of requesting ‘child sexual abuse’ materials, creating ‘multiple anonymous profiles’ and ‘at times advising the minor victim to delete their conversations’, the US Attorney’s Office said.

Riggs was also accused of sexually abusing the minor while they traveled for tournaments domestically and internationally.

It is reported that a pretrial detention hearing has now been scheduled for Monday, December 23.

Riggs began coaching the teenager in 2020 with the alleged sexual assault beginning in October 2021.

The Riggs family operates their own private tennis training company – Team Riggs Inc – within the Lauderdale Tennis Club in Florida.

State business records lists Daniel as the president of the company, which leases courts from Lauderdale Tennis Club.
