Patrick Dorgu waved goodbye to Lecce supporters on Friday night ahead of his transfer to Manchester United.

Earlier this week, United agreed a €35 million (£29.2m) deal with Lecce which will see Dorgu become the first signing of Ruben Amorim’s reign at Old Trafford.

Dorgu was included in Lecce’s squad for their 3-1 victory away to Parma on Friday evening, however, the 20-year-old was left on the bench for the entire game.

After the full-time whistle, Dorgu made a point of approaching Lecce’s travelling supporters at the Ennio Tardini and waved goodbye to them as he was hugged by his teammates.

Dorgu is now due to travel to Manchester on Saturday ahead of his medical.

‘I think Dorgu will be in Manchester tomorrow,’ Lecce head coach Marco Giampaolo said after his side’s win against Parma.

‘A splendid boy, he gave us everything he had. At 20 you have this opportunity, maybe you also have other thoughts in your head, it didn’t seem right to me to make him play neither for Lecce nor for himself.

‘If I needed him, I would have used him, I thought about it but the temptation was brief.’

Elsewhere, United remain in the running to sign Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, who turned down a move to Tottenham on Friday.

Tel has informed Spurs that he would rather remain at Bayern for the remainder of the season, although he could still be convinced if either United or Arsenal firm up their interest.

Meanwhile, reports in Portugal have claimed that United now have a deal in place to sign Sporting’s right wing-back Geovany Quenda at the end of the season.

Portuguese newspaper, A Bola, report that a deal worth €60m (£50.1m) is expected to be agreed between United and Sporting.
