Liverpool have one hand on the Premier League trophy following a comfortable 2-0 win at Manchester City on Sunday.
Following Arsenal’s shock loss to West Ham, Arne Slot knew that victory at the Etihad would put his side 11 points clear at the top of the table.
Their task was made easier before kick-off with Erling Haaland missing the clash through injury, but even if the star striker was fit, it likely would have made no difference.
City for all their possession failed to generate meaningful chances, while Liverpool soaked up the pressure and when presented with an opportunity to score, they did not mess about.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring with his 30th goal of the season, assisted by Dominik Szoboszlai from a nice corner routine.
And just before the break, the Egyptian King turned provider, teeing up Szoboszlai who passed into the back of the net with ease to secure the three points.
Curtis Jones thought he had made it 3-0 in the second-half but VAR overturned the goal as Szoboszlai was offside in the build-up.
It mattered not with Liverpool now seemingly unstoppable in their quest for the title, while City remain fourth in the table and face a tough fight just to qualify for the Champions League.
